A small repair that saved the customer the cost of replacing a whole door frame. Someone else had quoted them for a full strip-out; we suggested a section repair instead. Few hours’ work, fraction of the cost.
The challenge
Section repairs only work if the splice ends up looking like it has always been part of the frame. The trick is profile match — finding (or routing) a section that runs the same edge as the original timber, and getting the join angled so it does not catch the light.
What we did
Damaged section cut out cleanly at angles that hide the join. Matched softwood section sized and dry-fitted, then bonded and concealed-pinned. Sanded flush and decorator-ready.
The result
A frame that looks like nothing ever happened to it. The customer paid maybe fifteen percent of what the replacement quote was.
