A targeted half-day repair. The architect on site had flagged the soffit as needing replacement; we worked from their spec and renewed the section.
The challenge
Soffit boards are exposed timber that takes the worst weather. By the time decay shows it has usually moved deeper than it looks. We checked the rafter ends behind the decayed board, treated where needed, and only then put new timber up.
What we did
Old soffit stripped, rafter ends inspected and treated, new treated softwood board cut and fitted to exact dimensions, painted to match. Clean drainage path left for the rainwater goods above.
The result
A small repair that prevents a much bigger one. Half a day of work bought another 15 years of weatherproof eaves.
